ELEGANT TRADITIONAL KITCHEN

Project

This 1970’s colonial had served the family well in the raising of their three children. Now empty nesters, our clients desired an updated and yet truly traditional kitchen, and the addition of a three-season room for entertaining. What resulted is spectacularly cozy sun room with all the comforts of home in the beauty of the outdoors. The kitchen is subtly regal, with nods to antiques and a warmth that belies its owners.

Inspiration

The homeowners have a long history of collecting antiques—many pieces were found in Michigan’s Harbor Country. To keep the collected feel of their special pieces, the new kitchen was created with nods to traditional styling so that they could seamlessly incorporate their treasured found objects. Examples are a working desk designed as a furniture piece, hand glazed backsplash tiles, warm and earthy soapstone counters and a gorgeous fabric pattern that inspired the palette for the whole space.

Client

Gracious and frequent entertainers, our clients desired beautiful, comfortable spaces to cook and relax with family and friends.
