EUROPEAN INFLUENCED CRAFTSMAN HOME
Project
In this expansive home in Glen Ellyn, we were excited to help with a full Primary Bathroom and Kitchen remodel. Both required a fresh look at the layouts, updated aesthetics and a creative approach to blending styles.
Inspiration
With a meticulous craftsman home and the client’s request for an Italian-inspired aesthetic, blending styles was both an inspirational jumping off point and a challenging balance to strike. With the love of entertaining and a large family, the new layout of the kitchen was driven by functional storage, ample prep space and room for gatherings. After falling in love with a hand painted tile for the kitchen, the custom copper hood and tile surround became both the star of the room and the anchor for the design.
Client
The reconnection of childhood sweethearts led to a Brady Bunch situation that required a search for the perfect home to accommodate this blended family of 8. They found this craftsman reproduction home, thought to be built in the 90’s - complete with intricate stained millwork, period fixtures, stained glass and enough charm that one would be hard pressed to think it’s not a historic home. The property is sprawling with ample yard, privacy, an in-ground pool and a carriage house that allow for maximum family comfort and room to spread out.
