ECLECTIC UPDATES FOR A TRADITIONAL HOME

Project

We were originally tasked with creating an updated and cozy living and dining room for this active family of five. New lighting, art, rugs and furniture were selected to be both beautiful and durable. Meanwhile, window treatments throughout the home bring a layer of textural warmth and function. Down the road, this family invited us back when it was time to update the home office, convert a wet bar to a game room and update the powder room.

Inspiration

Vacations in Colorado hold a special place in this family’s history. We started with art selection and landed on several pieces that call to mind the Aspen forests they love so much. The artwork drove the rich color palette and from there it was a matter of updating the lighting and selecting a few special elements to take the basic out of this newer-build home.

Clients

Perhaps the most telling element of this family’s make up is the fact that all three teenage boys are hockey players. There is even an outdoor rink set up in the backyard every winter that draws a revolving door of friends in and out of the house. Even so, Mom and Dad still wanted a sophisticated and interesting space - just one that couldn’t be ruined by all the comings and goings.
