CONTEMPORARY MEETS CLASSIC
Project
Our process started with an initial exploration of whether the kitchen and family room could benefit from a merely cosmetic update. However, to accomplish the goals of improved flow, storage and entertaining space in addition to the aesthetic changes, the ultimate decision was that a full renovation was the best option. Working closely with our construction partners, a new cabinetry layout allowed for a large island and a built-in banquette for casual dining. Reworking the fireplace design created a stunning focal point of warm, rustic stone that grounds the family room end of the multi-purpose space.
Inspiration
Despite the home's traditional architecture, our clients were craving the introduction of contemporary design elements. Blending these two styles, a double-thick island countertop and charcoal island finish set a modern tone for the rest of the white perimeter cabinetry. Clean and classic pendants and a traditional millwork hood keep a tie to tradition and the artisan Zellige backsplash tile is the shining star that lends texture and depth to the whole space.
Client
A multi-generational family with big hearts and big energy, these folks are fun, adventurous and thoughtful. Grandparents, working parents, tweens, kiddos and dogs all share space in controlled chaos. Everyone was craving improved flow and function and more comfortable spaces for folks to spread out and enjoy each other.
